Taimi and August Launching Limited-Edition Period Boxes On International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia — For Everyone Who Menstruates

May 17th – Taimi, a fully inclusive LGBTQ+ dating app, has partnered with August, an inclusive menstrual-care brand, to create a lineup of limited edition period boxes, to commemorate International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia and shed light on the importance of acceptance. Proceeds will be donated to long-time August partner, Point of Pride; a nonprofit organization providing life-changing healthcare access for trans folks.

Period products are essential for the overall wellness of those who menstruate, yet most period product producers fail to acknowledge that their products are not exclusively for women. Through overall communication and brand positioning mainstream period product brands only reach women, forgetting about nonbinary, intersex people, and trans men who may get their periods too. That is not only an outdated vision of menstruation but also can trigger gender dysphoria every time a person needs to buy an essential product that seems to be made not for them to use.

Small things like gender-neutral period products play a significant role in the everyday validation of nonbinary, intersex, and trans folks who have periods. It might be hard for cis people to imagine how invisibility hurts when even the store shelves shout at you that you’re not the person you feel you are. Expanding the possibilities in the world of period products, August and Taimi make life easier for those who are not always seen even in the trans debate.

Considering the diverse array of identities and needs, the production of all-inclusive menstrual hygiene products reflects the necessity to broaden access to such products for all gender groups. Their absence or limited availability on the market may result from systemic discrimination.
