    What is Uingender

People experience and speak about gender in a variety of ways. Uingender has emerged as a word that individuals may use to describe a gender identity that is easily categorized or that remains undetermined in some way.

    Terminology

Here are some words and phrases that are relevant to understanding uingender.

    Uingender

The term uingender describes individuals who see their gender identity as undefined unidentified unquantifiable unexplainable or undetermined. They may feel vaguely like a man or woman, fluid, unsure about their gender, or experience a sort of detachment from their gender. A uingender individual may feel certain that the nature of their identity may always be unsure undefined unidentified unquantifiable or unknown. They may also feel as if they are in a process of discovery and that eventually their gender will not be unknown unnamed undecided unsure, etc.

    Unigender

This is a rarely used term that some people may choose as a substitute for unisex. It refers to items or concepts that apply to multiple or all genders. It may be a word choice for someone who wishes to differentiate between the concepts of sex and gender.

    Unisex

Used to define objects or ideas that are not limited to a single gender identity. For example, unisex clothing is made for men, women, and nonbinary people.

    Gender State

In the context of uingender, state refers to the temporary or permanent state of their identity being unknown unnamed undecided unsure. For example, some may see the unquantifiable unexplainable or undetermined nature of their identity as a temporary state that will resolve through self discovery. Others may embrace feeling undecided unsure undefined unidentified as something that is permanent. They are okay with an identity that remains unnamed undecided unsure undefined, because they don’t feel a need to embrace a label or category.

    MOGAI+

This acronym stans for marginalized orientations, genders, and intersex. This umbrella term was intended as a substitute for LGBTQIA+ but has never become commonly used. Some find the acronym to be offensive as marginalized orientations may be used to categorize healthy sexualities with pathological attractions.

    History

The concept of a UIN identity was introduced in 2019 by Saturnic-Vapour who no longer has an active account on Tumblr.

    Flags And Symbols

The uingender flag was created by Tumblr user @imoga-pride. The flag has several equal sized stripes. Each stripe represents a main quality of uin including unsure, unnamed, undefined, unidentified, undecided, unfixed, unexplainable, undetermined, and unstated.

    Am I Uingender?

The only way to determine this is through self analysis. Basically, how do you feel about your gender and do you believe your gender lacks definition. Keep in mind that this is not about questioning your identity. Instead, it’s an understanding and acceptance that your identity is not definable or defies description. If that is how you feel, and you are comfortable without having a clearly defined identity, then you may be uingender. You could use a diary app to explore your thoughts.

    How to be Supportive

You support this identity in the same way you support other identities or sexualities. You accept that each person understands themselves and has the right to be the final determiner of who they are and how they identify. Listen, be open-minded, learn, and be accepting.
