So, what makes furries so awesome? Here are just a few reasons:

  • They encourage people to be themselves
  • They provide gay and nonbinary youth with a safe community
  • They give people a healthy creative outlet
  • Furries have raised millions of dollars for charitable causes

There’s more! The community is open to people of all ages, genders, and orientations. No, furry culture is not inherently sexual. Although it isn’t unsexual either.

Furries also create amazing fiction. Their work is relevant, hot, and engaging. There’s no better way to experience this than to delve deep into the world of gay furry comics.

Some Facts You Need to Know About the World of Furries

Unfortunately, furries get a lot of hate. That’s largely due to misconceptions about them, and what they are all about. As a result, the work they produced is often ignored or dismissed as a fetish. That’s a shame because gay furry comics contain themes that have universal appeal.

So, before you determine that furry comics could never be for you, take a moment to understand the world of furries a little better.

What is a Furry?

A furry is a member of a subculture that is interested in humanized or anthropomorphic animals. Some create their own characters as personal avatars. They often create artwork, costumes, and stories to express these creations. Other furries simply enjoy participating in events, and reading or watching furry-related content.

Do Furries Have a Sexual Fetish?

Furries are like any other fandom. Yes, you can find furries who definitely connect their sexual fantasies with their characters, and who enjoy sexual experiences with people who have shared interests.

However, you can just as easily search out people who identify as furries and have no interest in sexualizing their experiences. They simply enjoy the creativity and characters.

Does Every Furry Wear a Costume?

Fur suiting is the practice of wearing a costume to represent the animal you relate to. Some furries engage in fursuiting most of the time, but that’s a rarity. Many more choose to suit up at conventions and special gatherings. There are even furries who choose not to dress at all.

What is a Fursona?

The fursona is the personality behind the animal avatar. It is created to describe the interests, values, and experiences behind the character.

Often, people will create a fursona that is an idealized version of themselves. Gay furry comics often provide people with a way to take a deep dive into the fursonas of interesting characters.

Do Furries Think They are Animals?

Most do not. However, one in three do indicate some ambiguous feelings about their identity. Sadly, this has been widely misinterpreted. It’s often used not only to mock furries but also to denigrate people who are trans or nonbinary.

First, identifying very strongly with a fictionalized version of an animal doesn’t mean that someone thinks they are literally that animal. You may have seen people who have had extensive surgery done to look permanently like their animal avatars.  Please understand that these people are in the smallest minority. Their stories are simply exploitable by the media. Most simply very strongly identify with their animal avatars.

Is the Furry Genre for White People?

Absolutely not! Anybody can be a furry. Do you need proof? Check out SonicFox. Not only is he a legend in the furry fandom, he is also an eSports champion, and out and proud black man.

In a Mashable interview, he says, “I’m just super unapologetically myself. Not a lot of people are as willing to be open about themselves. And I’m some kind of big flair of a personality that people can’t seem to take their eyes off.”

Are Furries Mainstream?

Furries are more mainstream than you think. First, just think about all of the anthropomorphic characters that are popular on animated television shows, at amusement parks, and in movies. People are really into these characters. Also, you can’t convince us that someone at Nintendo isn’t a furry. Just look at Animal Crossing!

Why do we Love Gay Furry Comics?

Good news. People don’t have to identify as furries to love gay furry comics. These are perfect for fans of hot characters, engaging stories, and really amazing graphic illustrations.

The stories range widely as well. They cover a wide range of topics that include consent, romance, the comedy and drama of daily life, and sensuality. Maybe the best thing about gay furry comics is that they openly explore gay storylines and characters. That’s much better than mainstream comics and graphic novels where anything gay is an afterthought or really watered down.

How do Comics Make our Hot List?

We had to set some standards in our search for the best gay furry comics. First, the comics had to be gay-centric. That means main characters that are LGBTQ, and storylines that are relevant to us. Additionally, we set a strict rule of “no porn allowed”.

Let’s be clear on what that means. Sensuality is allowed, romance is allowed, even sexuality is allowed. However, sex must be a natural part of a great story. Any comics that simply use thin storylines to set up graphically sexual scenarios were eliminated from consideration. However, please keep in mind that many of these comics are very hot and NSFW.

Finally, we are referring to the reading material here. While we love animation, the items on this list aren’t cartoons. Maybe that will be a topic for a future post.

A Note About Links

We have included links to the comics on our list, and to information on other resources. Please click with care. Many of these are decidedly NSFW!

The Gay Furry Comics we Love

Let’s get started! Here are the hot comics we love and think readers will become fans of as well. Don’t worry, none of these are too obscure. You can find all of these with a quick internet search.

Only if You Kiss

https://yiffer.xyz/Only%20if%20You%20Kiss

Does the idea of a story involving hot guys exploring a bromance appeal to you? If so, “Only if You Kiss” should be on your reading list. The main characters enjoy the stereotypically straight dude activities of hanging out, drinking beer, and watching movies on the couch. Nothing gay about it! Right?

Well, everything changes when one of the characters decides to indulge in their hedonistic side. Thus begins the exploration of shared sexual interests between the two characters.

Of course, none of this proves they are gay! As the title states, it’s gay only if you kiss.

If you enjoy YIFF, but demand intelligent writing and character design, this is a great comic for you. The creator, Art Decade, does a great job of exploring the theme of best friend romance without indulging in lame stereotypes. At the same time, they don’t hesitate to offer up some serious eye candy in the characters.

If you dig this story, you don’t have to wait for the author to post a sequel. There are already two waiting for you to read. Check out “Only if You Know” and “Only if I Love You”.

Weekend

https://trello.com/c/EsO9sE5T/307-weekend-by-zeta-haru

“Weekend” is centered around two young pups in love. While it’s decidedly NSFW, the author does an amazing job of creatively describing the bedroom antics involved.

There’s more to this than hot sex scenes. Creator Zeta Haru does an amazing job with these characters. Over time, their love blossoms, and their obsession with one another intensifies. This allows for the development of a sweetly romantic storyline that stands on its own.

If you love Weekend, there are sequels available for you to explore. Be sure you check out “Weekend 2”. In this story, the main characters head out to a mountain cabin in a quest to take their love to the next level.

The Internship

https://www.furaffinity.net/view/25881509/

“The Internship” is centered around Andrew. He’s a bookish yet sexy 25-year-old intern at a major corporation. Of course, we’re talking about gay furry comics here, so he’s also an anthropomorphic dog.

This comic makes our list because it combines hot themes that we love. Could you ask for more than intense love triangles, hot sex, and betrayal?

Should Andrew choose love or focus on his career? This is an age-old question that has been explored in fiction many times. It’s nice to see it explored in such a creative way with gay characters. Once you start reading, you won’t stop until you learn whether Andrew chooses Emery, the company CEO, or if he pursues a romance with Cooper the friend he has loved all along.

It’s not always easy to find fiction in this genre that deftly combines comedy with sensuality. Fortunately, writer Jackaloo accomplishes this quite skillfully.

Little Buddy

https://yiffer.xyz/Little%20Buddy%20-%20Chapter%201

“Little Buddy” begins when John discovers that his best friend Chris is gay, his curiosity is piqued. Other than his pal, John is entirely unfamiliar with the feelings involved in being gay, let alone the mechanics of sex between two dudes. Of course, in true gay fiction style that doesn’t stop him from approaching Chris about a little fooling around.

Of course, he is very clear that none of this makes him gay. He’s just curious and in search of answers. As you might expect, that curiosity leads to a deeper relationship. However, the author Meesh uses the story to explore some pretty intense topics. We learn early on that Chris is much less sexually experienced than John. That impacts how the sensual side of this love story unfolds.

Of course, in many ways, this is much more a tale of coming out than one of love. The story addresses the nitty-gritty details of coming out for guys. That includes a lack of sex ed for young folks who are LGBTQ. It also deals with a painful reality that many guys who are out have experienced. They often become a source of sexual exploration for closeted men, only to discover the same men aren’t always interested in anything more. That’s a painfully realistic side of gay dating that many writers fail to address.

Cruelty

https://www.furaffinity.net/view/3279084/

“Cruelty” may be the most popular comic on this list. However, it earns a spot on this post because of the amazing job that the writer Rukis has done in creating a compelling love story. Their writing presents the common subject of love between best pals without turning it into a cliche.

In “Cruelty” Reis and Marcus are seemingly mismatched best friends. Picture the guy in your high school who was flamboyant, outgoing, and intense. You’ve got a great mental image of Reis.

Marcus on the other hand is a masculine athlete. He’s also painfully shy, reserved, and identifies as straight. At least, he’s pretty sure he is. Of course, the readers know better.

As the school year goes on, Marcus is dealing with some pretty bad stuff at home. He leans on Reis for support. This is when their relationship begins to transform. Unfortunately, this isn’t all good news for Marcus. He struggles with what he is beginning to realize about himself.

If you want to find a story that will introduce you to furry fiction, “Cruelty” is a great place to start.

Unconditional

https://steemit.com/furry/@klr2/full-comic-of-unconditional-furry

“Unconditional” is the sequel to “Cruelty” but it deserves its place on our top ten list. That’s partly because the artwork and story are fabulous. It’s also because this is truly a standalone story. Rukis even says in a comment on a furry fiction forum, “I decided a long time ago that if I was going to do a sequel, I would need to be serious with the script for it, and it would need to add to, not simply continue the first story.”

Still, we recommend that you start with “Cruelty” then pick up “Unconditional” next. It picks the story up about two years after Reis and Marcus have graduated from high school. They are on their own, living together, far from home. This creates more opportunities to explore mature story points.

In many ways, the characters have shifted roles. Reis is struggling with his confidence, lack of employment, and just drifting. Marcus has triumphed in his search to feel comfortable in his own skin. He leads an LGBTQ activist group and has truly found his footing at their university. This has led to frequent arguments and tension between the two main characters.

Sadly, tragedy strikes, and the two are left dealing with a watershed moment. If they can come together, their love can be saved. If not, the relationship is doomed to failure. This may not be what you are interested in if you want some light reading, but it  is perfect for diving into something with a bit of meat to it.

Fang

https://furplanet.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=188

“Fang” isn’t a single story. Instead, it’s an anthology of short stories that have been written by some of the biggest names in this genre. It’s a must-have collection for enthusiasts. Check out the stories by Kohai, Kyell Gold, Mikori, Stormcatcher, and Swampwulf.

If you select just one item for your collection of gay fiction, this might be your best choice. You will enjoy the variety of stories here. Some of the authors have chosen to focus on the lighter of furry stories while others have delved deep into some very sexual content. Pick what you are in the mood for, and start reading.

One thing’s for sure, “Fang” was definitely created for the gay reading audience. These aren’t just straight love stories rewritten with same-sex characters.

Foxes in Love

https://foxes-in-love.tumblr.com/

Some people may find “Foxes in Love” a bit more challenging to consume than other comics. That’s because the comic has been released in a series of highly relatable sketches on the author’s Tumblr.

It’s also artistically different from anything else featured on this list. While characters in furry comics are often muscular and highly sexualized, the male foxes that star in “Foxes in Love” are simply drawn and quite androgynous.

In a comment on their Tumblr page, the creator says, “I’ve wanted the comics I make to be portraits of love, things that are common and universal. You can be a Rabbi in New York or a transgender lesbian in Mumbai, and you know how it’s like when the love of your life keeps stealing the whole blanket in her sleep..”

If you are in search of a comic that is more sweet than sexy, you will uncover what you want right here. This is also great work to share with someone who is interested in these stories but doesn’t consent to read explicit material.

Crossed Wires

https://crossedwires.irisjay.net/

Iris Jay created “Crossed Wires” as a way to combine cyber-fiction with furry comics. The plot centers around a group of hackers who engage in adventures together in their quest to defeat evil corporations.

The space-age, anthropomorphic characters include Alan who goes by the moniker Ultra Drakken. He’s an inexperienced hacker who has spent much more time gaming online than doing any real hacking. Of course, that changes when he runs into Vrrmn (Theresa) and her hacking partners.

So, where does the queer, furry element come into play? In addition to high-tech, VR storylines, these comics do an amazing job of putting a story to Jay’s furry artwork. The characters are all represented as animals, and each identifies as gay, trans, or nonbinary. Like furries in real life, they explore their identities and personalities through their online avatars. Together, they are able to form a community as they search for their next target to defeat.

Lost and Found

In “Lost and Found” Stephen is the only person left alive after a horrible shipwreck. He goes on a search for a safe place and discovers an island that he believes to be deserted.

Before long, he discovers that his assumption was wrong. He meets up with a friendly islander who also happens to be completely nude. Stephen and his new friend Aikan learn to communicate in spite of their language differences. Eventually, Aikan convinces his fellow tribe members to embrace Stephen as well.

There’s just one catch. The tribe has a strict all-nude all the time rule. Yes, this is a cheap gimmick to get to some fictionalized sexy time, but it works! The main characters quickly move from great friends to intense lovers. The sex scenes are some of the hottest you will encounter in this genre.

However, you would be doing this comic a disservice if you simply dismissed it as porn. The dialogue is engaging, and you truly come to care about the characters.

Where to Find Furry Comics

You can start your search for furry comics for gays with a simple Google search. Just be aware that you may not find these in traditional locations. Yes, some of these works are available as digital novels, even in printed form. However, when you are dealing with a niche like this, you may have to do a bit of exploration to uncover interesting fiction to read. Although, it’s well worth the effort.

Comics are often released in serialized form, and may be found on:

You can also get leads on some amazing content by joining furry-focused forums on sites like Reddit.

How Much do Furry Comics Cost?

Fortunately, there are loads of free comics in this category. Plenty of artists are eager to share their artwork and writing. If you never wanted to spend a dime on reading in this genre, you could keep yourself busy for months.

That said, don’t dismiss premium work. There is something to be said for professionally produced comics, and for financially supporting artists who create such amazing work.

Final Thoughts: Furry Fiction for Everyone
