His wife, played by Saoirse Roman, and Mary end up falling in love and the movie explores how their relationships progress. Another plus is the appearance of real-life lesbian actress Fiona Shaw.
Fun Fact: Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan actually put together the sex scenes by themselves for this film. In Winslet's words " Women know what women want" and this just lets you know how high the standards were, even though their budget was low.
Carmen and Lola is a Spanish movie about two young girls who are living in a Romani community in the suburbs of Madrid. Carmen is destined to live the life of every other woman in her circle; get married, have many children, and take care of her family. This is not the life Carmen dreams of.
Soon, she meets a girl called Lola, who might be part of the same community but dreams of going to college and living a different, more fulfilling life. Lola helps Carmen explore her sexuality and the two girls will have to decide whether they want to lead their own lives outside of their community.
Tru is a young lesbian that unexpectedly starts a romantic relationship with her friend's mother named Alice. Alice is much older and has lived a completely different life so far.
